Installing TWRP recovery.

  1. This guide only work on Android Lollipop device.
  2. Install fastboot on the computer or laptop, fastboot used to send any command to the Android device via command prompt.

  4. Make sure USB driver for the Motorola phone correctly installed on the computer, If you don't have this driver, get it from the link below.

  6. Download the latest TWRP recovery for Motorola Moto X Play from here.

  8. Then, download the latest SuperSU from here.

  10. Once everything downloaded, put all files at the same folder. for example C:\Motorola
  11. Now, enable developer options on your phone. (Go to Settings - Tap 7 times at build number until you see you are now a developer.)
  12. Then, enable OEM unlocking.
  13. Enable USB debugging.
  14. Now turn off Motorola Moto X Play.
  15. Then enter Moto X Play to fastboot mode. (Press and hold Power Button + Volume Down)

  16. Now connect Motorola Moto X Play to the computer via USB cable.
  17. Now open command prompt at this folder (C:\Motorola), how to do it.
    • Press and hold shift key on keyboard.
    • Then right click at empty space - select open command window here.
  18. Now type the following command below to make sure your phone is connected to the computer.
    • fastboot devices
  19. Then, the type the following command below to flash TWRP recovery 
    • fastboot flash recovery recovery name.img
    • Change recovery name with the recovery name you just download at step 4 above, for example.
      • fastboot flash recovery twrp-lux-3.0.2-r5.img
  20. Now type the following command below to boot Motorola Moto X Play to recovery mode.
    • fastboot boot twrp-lux-3.0.2-r5.img
  21. And your Motorola Moto X Play will reboot into recovery mode now.
  22. Now boot your Motorola Moto X Play to the system. to load Android operating system and normal boot.
