Before you flash the ROM its kinda natural that you wanna know more about the ROM that you're flashing So here's a quick little summary of the new ROM development group Lineage OS.

Okay, If you're in the Android community for a while there's a high chance that you might've heard of this ROM development group before named "CyanogenMod". If you don't know, "CyanogenMod" was famous for making some of the best Custom ROM's for android. Period,

But just few months ago Cyanogen INC. the company that provided source codes to CyanogenMod community, was force to shutdown its doors which caused the whole CyanogenMod community to go down as well.

You can actually read the full article about this that I did back then here -->

After a week of being closed down some members of the Scattered CyanogenMod community grouped up and created the new ROM Development group "Lineage OS" claiming to be the next successor of the CyanogenMod ROMs.

Detailed steps on how to flash a ROM using TWRP recovery. But if your phone has a CWM (Clock.Work.Mode) recovery you can see this tutorial on "How To Flash A ROM Using CWM Recovery"

1: Booting Into Recovery Mode

To flash a ROM you first need to put your phone into recovery mode. This could differ to device to device but the most common trick is to turn off your device and when it's completely turned off you'll hear a buzz out of your phone or some sort of vibration, After that hold on the power button + volume(+) along with the home button if your device have one. if this doesn't work and you get booted right to your home screen repeat the process but this time hold on the volume(-) instead of (+). because sometimes you have to be (-) in your life...

2: Wiping The Orignal System

So, after you get into your recovery mode, there's a chance that you'll not see what I'm showing in the picture cuz this tutorial is old and you might have an updated version of the same recovery, But considering the method of flashing hasn't changed this tutorial will give you a basic idea of what you're doing and where to start. But for the sake of simplicity I'm going to assume that your device is running the TWRP Recovery V2.8.7.0

So, let's start From the home screen, tap the Wipe button on the menu to enter the system wiping zone however like I said if you don't see this particular button just search for something similar like system wipe, etc. (YOU CAN DO THIS!)

3: Wiping Zone

After you enter the Wipe zone, you'll see something like this,

To wipe the system, Swipe the bar at the bottom to do a factory reset. You should always do a factory reset before flashing a new ROM. If you’re just upgrading your existing ROM, you may not have to, but if you ever experience issues after flashing, a factory reset may help. But make sure to do a backup of your apps before you do so, cuz a factory reset is well. A factory Reset.

4: Selecting Your ROM

Anyways, Ones you've done that, go back to the TWRP home screen and click the Install button.

When you press the button, the following screen will appear which is a Window 98 style file drawer which is what we're going to use to browse to your ROM and flash it. Scroll down and navigate to your ROM’s.zip file you downloaded earlier.

5: Flashing Your ROM

Tap the (Your_ROM_Name).zip file and you’ll see this screen. Swipe to confirm the flash.

It may take a few minutes to flash the ROM, so give it some time. Grab a cup of coffee and chill...

Flashing Gapps (Optional But Recommended)

When the flashing is finished, it’s time to flash the Gapps.zip file. If you don't know what GAPPS are or where to download it check out my other tutorials on GAPPS Flashing Guide. But for now, I'll just show you how to flash it Go back to the home screen and tap the Install button. This time, pick your Google Apps .zip file and repeat the process. This may take a while as well, so be patient.

When it’s done, tap the “Wipe cache/Dalvik” button that appears and swipe to confirm.

Once the cache has been wiped, tap the “Reboot System” button to boot back into your new ROM & Enjoy Android. Keep in mind that first boot will take more than usual time to boot.
